BLACK FAMILIES STOP BARACK is an action committee committed to exposing Sen. Barack Obama and preventing his attempt at Presidency. BFSB is a branch of Black American’s for Real Change. Three key areas of disagreement between BARC and Obama for real change are in regards to the Christian Faith, Abortion, and the African-American Community.
CHRISTIAN FAITH
Evangelist Owens stated, “It is clear that Senator Barack Obama’s comments of ‘trying to have a universal language so that we can have a open and vigorous debate rather than a religious divide amongst us’ is misguided. Owens added, “to be universal within the realm of religion is not possible nor necessary within the Christian faith. Religious harmony within the core beliefs of a person’s belief should not be the objective of any political person; rather it should be respect for each person’s religious beliefs. Therefore to change the belief of one religion to fit another or all is to fall into false doctrine in regards to that specific religion.
The Judeo-Christian faith emphatically believes that Jesus Christ is the only way, the only truth and the only life. Without this commitment to God through His only begotten Son, one who seeks to merge this faith with any other is actually committing treason by bowing to another god or another religion. Would our wives accept our universal love of other women? Then why should God accept our universal acceptance of other gods if we claim to believe in Him? This is the core difference in many of Obama’s ideals about God. He believes he can adjust his religious views as a man would in an attempt to conform them to political conveniences. However, Christianity is built upon a theocracy – the rule of one, not a democracy – the rule of man or men.
ABORTION
Obama’s position on abortion is in direct conflict with his profession of the Christian faith. God is passionate about life not death, especially the life of a living innocent soul. To debate whether another person has the right to choose whether or not someone lives is misguided, because this is not a choice we are entitled to make. It is as irrelevant as saying we have the right to say who God is and who He isn’t. The Christian only needs to follow the guidelines of guarding and cherishing life as outlined in the Bible. The Christian only needs to answer one question: if it were you who were inside your mother’s womb, what would you want to be done? Let you live or kill you? Do unto others as you would have others do unto you is a commandment, and the womb does not create an arena where this commandment is not relevant and real.
AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY
With the presence of generational scars, and the complex issues that face the African-American family, it will only be the faithful and proven core principles of the Christian faith that establish not only the African-American family but any family. The debate over family values such as the protection of traditional marriage, and education are too broad for silver-bullet solutions presented by Senator Obama. The change within family cannot be accomplished by government intervention. It will be accomplished by core beliefs and values that will equip families to self govern. These are values that have withstood the test of time and have produced fruit for those who follow these principles.
Undeniably, the values of the Christian faith speak loud even in the midst of Christians who may struggle in their faith, and yet continue to move forward. These are values that change the heart of any person who lives by them, and it is only this change in heart that can truly cause the positive change in community challenges. Anyone who promises higher wages, health insurance or any other “benefit” does not understand or does not respect the power of the individual heart to choose the quality of life they desire or don’t, and it is impractical and arrogant to believe we can legislate the human heart through government policy.
Further, the debate of among many African-American leaders has remained essentially the same. The nature of their dialog has failed to be solution orientated and devoid of any solid action in regards to strengthening marriages, keeping children mentally and physically whole, and igniting a hope that is far above the promise of a presidential candidate. The idea that a single presidential committee can be the foundation for the preservation of our families is misguided. Our faith in families can never be in the government of man or men. Rather, it must rest up the sovereignty of God who made the family and who keeps the family who follow His principles.”
